Process simulation

1D-PROCESS SIMULATION

Process simulation enables a complex system of sub-systems to be modelled as a whole, taking into account the interaction of its components. The laws of behaviour of these components are simplified and take into account a wide range of their operation, making it possible to simulate the entire life cycle of the system.
Process simulation is a deterministic approach to modelling the global behaviour of complex systems (on the scale of a complete installation, a factory…), the output of which provides an effective input to the design of their control-command (sensors, regulation organs, control logic…).
Thus, these process simulations (known as “1D” or “0D” for each component) are essential complements to 3D simulation to integrate all stages of design.
Among the many applications of process simulations, DAES is particularly specialised in :

  • Fluid circuits, thermodynamics, e.g. gas power plants, heat transport and conversion network, solar power plants.
  • Cryogenic circuits
  • Chemical processes and reagents, e.g. desalination, chemical processes, filtration, separation and concentration processes.
  • Multi-body simulations in mechanics (“rigid bodies”).
  • Traffic flows of vehicles and people.
